Feng Shui, meaning “Wind and Water” has been practiced for over 3,000 years in China. Wind being inner intentions and Water your environment. Students located buildings with vital energy flow (Ch’i). This energy would protect and nourish the people and their interests. In those days locations with a physical balance of earth, water, fire, metal and wood were more easily found. This balance in auspicious locations embraced the inhabitants and supported them in living safe, prosperous and happy lives.
Western Feng Shui is as relevant today as it was thousands of years ago in China. In our more material, less natural, hectic culture, we still deal with the same essential issues that Feng Shui addresses: the pursuit of health, prosperity, and happiness. It is a dance between empowerment and environment.

It fully honors Feng Shui’s Eastern heritage, while focusing on the many practical applications it has in our Western culture.
Essential Feng Shui® was developed by Terah Kathryn Collins, the founder of the Western School of Feng Shui and author of The Western Guide to Feng Shui. It is founded on Form School Feng Shui principles. It is highly practical, user-friendly and effective in dealing with the lifestyle issues and environmental challenges we experience in the West. It often differs from Compass and Black Sect Feng Shui in that it honors your unique lifestyle and offers you many practical ways to transform your surroundings to enrich your life.
Consultation
I offer two types of consultations to address your personal needs.

- A Feng Shui consultation in your home lasts about 2 hours. I will talk to you one-on-one about the areas of your life you wish to improve and the goals you are trying to achieve. During the consultation I will incorporate two very important aspects of Feng Shui: The Bagua Map and the Five Elements Map. Both are essential in receiving the most positive results.
- A virtual consultation can also be done through phone and computer. You would email me a drawing of the layout of your home and pictures of each room. We would set up a time for a phone consultation where we virtually walk through your home incorporating the enhancements based on the Bagua Map to help you achieve your goals.
By the end of the consultation you will have a clear step-by-step list of ways that you can improve the flow of energy in your home and improve your life. You will be shocked at how quickly simple modifications in your home, and in your mind-set will help you make positive and impactful changes in your life.
Begin now – Doors that appear to be closed can “blow” open. When you apply the Feng Shui principles illustrated during your in-house consultation, I will help you to focus your attention on creating meaningful changes, turning an absolute “no” into an absolute “yes”.
The Bagua
The color chart below is a simplified illustration of the Feng Shui Bagua Map (pronounced Ba-gwa). It is the most exciting and functional aspects in Feng Shui used to find out which areas of your home, office or landscape correlates with a particular situation in your life. It comes from the ancient Chinese Book of Changes “The I Ching”. The name Bagua means 8 Trigrams , or areas, each representing the building blocks of life. Once you understand how to use this map, you will be able to quickly evaluate and adjust your environment to maximize greater health and productivity while improving the quality of your life. People have solved many problems in their life through the use of this map.
In the Bagua diagram, there are 8 areas, or “Guas” encircling the center. Each of these areas corresponds to an aspect of your life – career, knowledge and self cultivation, family, friends and health, prosperity, fame, love and relationships, children and creativity, helpful people. The center is a centering and grounding area for all the aspects. Each is associated with colors, elements and specific attributes.
For instance, you may find that your relationship or wealth areas are located in your bathroom, or in a chaotic area of your garage – or missing altogether.
Not all homes fit perfectly into the rectangular Bagua. In a consultation, I will show you how to anchor and enhance all areas; especially those of greatest concern, using the best tools for enhancing the Chi, as well as create affirmations and intentionality for your inner and outer improvements.
Five Elements Map
The art of Feng Shui explores the balance of the five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water; which are considered to be the building blocks of everything physical on earth. Each of the five elements has a rich spectrum of associations; colors, shapes and qualities. People are most comfortable when all of the elements are represented in one’s home and workplace, as seen in the following before and after pictures.
In a consultation you will learn to define the elements in your space, assess the need for elemental addition and corrections, and receive recommendations for establishing elemental balance. You will learn how to control dominant elements, and nourish those elements that need strengthening, and learn how to create powerful 5 element displays.
